In the United States the word "pig", when referring to a cop or the police, became popular in the 60's right along with the Age of Aquarius, flower power and civil unrest.

When we hear the words "Pig Spotters , all kinds of crazy and delusional fantasies on how to spot a cop before he/she spots you, dance before our eyes - ...In spite of the fact that this is not what motorcycle pig spotters are all about - nevertheless, they are very cool.

Motorcycle pig spotters are rearview mirrors which, depending on what type of bike you have, may be installed with or without having to drill holes on the frame. This product is considered "the newest invention in aftermarket motorcycle mirrors from the guys at ST Machine." (ST Machine .com)

Pig spotter motorbike mirrors are manufactured from ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) composite material. The combination of these three chemicals results in a material which is "rigid, hard and tough but not brittle, and possess good impact strength, heat resistance." (new enough .com) The beauty of these pig spotter mirrors is that in spite of the fact that they are super tough they are also extremely lightweight weighing less than one pound with all of the hardware. Because every ounce counts, you will not have to worry about carrying any additional and unnecessary weight.

The Pig Spotter 2's are manufactured out of billet aluminum (hard racing .com) as well as a black carbon fiber impression. Pig spotters come with "universal fitment", meaning that they fit "all bikes with fairings with a minimum 2" clearance required". (cgi. Ebay .com) The only bikes which ST Machine advises that require that you modify the front fairing are the Kawasakis ZX12 and ZX14, the Hondas CBR954RR and CBR929RR and some Buells. With these models ST Machine recommends that you mount them "almost anywhere on the front fairing." ST Machine also guarantees that these mirrors will fit all models manufactured up to 2011.

Keep in mind that it is important that you adjust them prior to tweaking the final screw for afterwards, you won't be able to readjust them.

For example, on a 2005 GSX-R 600 converted to a 750, an owner recommends that you "line them up and drill holes where you want to mount them, the fairing stay bracket actually has a hole in between the two mirror mounts perfect for running the wires for the LEDs." (gixxer .com)

As if the design wasn't cool enough ST Machine has added 4 amber LEDs built into the outer body of each mirror. Motorcycle mirrors are either convex or straight. The difference between these two is that with the convex mirrors, which is what the pig spotters sport are "curved mirrors that give a "compressed" view rather than a flat view. As a result, they cover a wider field of view and objects in the mirror appear smaller."
